Stars at Dusk – Dusk Mane Necrozma-GX Deck

Hello everybody, my name is PikaPoster, and welcome to the first full deck post in quite a while. Today we will be looking at a new archetype added in the Ultra Prism expansion, the Dusk Mane Necrozma-GX deck.

The Pokémon

This deck is not one of the more simple ones in the format. You cannot simply throw the main Pokémon in and a couple of trainers. Instead, you have to use plenty of synergies throughout the whole deck. This minimizes leftover deck space, but also makes it more efficient.

Dusk Mane Necrozma-GX

This card is the core of the deck. It has a nice amount of HP for a basic, and does an absurd amount of damage with its second attack. The unfortunate part is the energy cost. It requires 3 dedicated and 1 non-dedicated energy to power up, as well as discarding 3 every time it is used. There are, however a few techs that help it.

Magnezone ULP

The Magnezone card from Ultra Prism is a very nice addition to this deck. Combined with Mt. Coronet, it lets you use Meteor Tempest nearly every turn. However, this combo does require you to already have one energy in your hand, as well as Mt. Coronet, but I think that that downside can be easily bypassed.

Solgaleo Prism Star

This is one of the nice cards that allows you to get past the cons of the Magnezone combo. It lets you grab [M] energy from the discard pile equal to the number of Pokémon your opponent has in play, and attach them to your Pokémon in any way you like. This is best used endgame as a last push for victory.

Metagross-GX

This is the second variant of the Dusk Mane Necrozma-GX deck. As long as you have 3 Metagross up at once, it completely eliminates all downsides of the Magnezone variant. The only minor problem with this is the fact that it connot deal with Hoopa/Ninetales.

The Lists

For the purposes of this post, I will be showing you a basic list of each variant of this deck. I prefer the Metagross version myself (who else loves Metagross!?), but I’m not sure which is better yet. I will be heavily testing each kind, and will probably update this post after testing and share my results and tweaks.
