Hello Pokémon enthusiasts! This is another look at a card from Crimson Invasion, Gyarados-GX CRI 18. If I remember correctly, this is the first GX card I have reviewed of this set. Here we go!
Some cards go for cool comboes, some for clever strategies. Gyarados-GX is raw power. It might take five energies to charge, but the damage output can be insane.
Gyarados-GX CRI 18
Gyarados-GX 240HP [W]
[W][C][C] Waterfall 70
[W][C][C][C][C] Draconic Disaster 100+
If there is any Stadium card in play, this attack does 100 more damage. Then, discard that Stadium card.
[W] Dread Storm GX
Discard an Energy from each of your opponent’s Pokémon. (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.)
Weakness – [L]
Resistance – [NONE]
Retreat – [C][C][C][C]
This is an interesting card. With 240HP, it can tank some hits, especially as there aren’t many lightning types in the meta as of now. Stage 1 isn’t bad, but Magikarp is all too easy to KO. Its first attack, Waterfall, is fairly bad, as it does only 70 damage for three energy. Its second attack, Draconic Disaster is rather nice, but it relies on having five energy, and a stadium card in play to do 200 damage. If it was a bit cheaper, or didn’t rely on stadiums, it would be a whole lot better. I give this card 2.5 stars.
